082 – A Bump of the Tit, An Underdressing Story

Summary

In this episode, Savannah introduces Pattie Smith to Julie. Pattie is a male-to-female dual-gender individual who finds and honors her feminine spirit through underdressing during the work week. Married to her high school sweetheart, Pattie’s wife thought that Pattie’s gender identity issues were a passing phase when she found out about Pattie’s gender therapist. What comes from it is Pattie’s personal and current balance for their masculine and feminine side, wearing camis and bras under their male work clothes. Sometimes a hint of mascara or filling the bra with breast forms while on a work errands makes Pattie’s experience more complete. Julie and Savannah talk about Savannah’s underdressing routine, its benefits in specific situations, and how it can be used to the greatest effect.

080 – Defining Crossdressing In A Different Way

Summary

In this episode, Julie regales Savannah with stories of clients who have a specific viewpoint of when they consider that they themselves are crossdressing. What follows is a mind-blowing pivot of what everyone has defined the term crossdressing… that crossdressing means you are dressing in clothes defined for the opposite gender. What if, though, crossdressing was not about dressing opposite of your biology, but instead opposite of your gender identity? What if crossdressing was what you were doing when dressing as a biological man even though you always considered yourself psychologically a woman? Is it still considered crossdressing if you were masquerading in boy’s and men’s clothes because you wanted the world to accept you and keep you safe, just because you were born in the masculine gender? Julie and Savannah dig deep into their experiences and intellect to turn another demystifying topic on its earring and on its heels!

079 – Love the One You’re With

Summary

In this episode, Savannah asks Julie the question, “How do you accept yourself in a world where many do not share that same acceptance of you?”. It is very very difficult to build a solid foundation of self-love and self-confidence when every indicator and comment and advertised worldview seems to point to there being something unwelcome about the person you are. Yes, the world is slowly changing its view of gender diverse people and their place in society, but that change is slow to happen and hasn’t been the formative experience many of us grew up with–hence our hiding in our proverbial closets for so long… for too long. Finding a community or an outlet of support–locally or through the world wide web–is so important to our psychological wellbeing and growth as a person. While the fight may be ours alone, we can wage it with the right allies at our side.

078 – Significant One Relationship Dynamics (Part 2)

Summary

In this episode, Julie brings to the podcast a letter from the lovely Keisha, the wife of a crossdressing husband. Julie reads her letter of concern, angst, love and support of her partner. Is she flaunting her own genetic femininity if she knows her male partner doesn’t have the opportunity to do the same? Why doesn’t she channel her own divine femininity the same way as her partner is able to? From turning the masculine and feminine dynamic of the relationship upside-down and inside-out, to the wife finding herself becoming the white knight protector of her enfemme partner when they go out in public, to wanting to be as supportive as possible when it comes to allowing her husband to experiment and explore his femme self while trying to keep an eye on the house finances, the relationship dynamics of a crossdressing man and their cis-gender partner is not the typical one we grew up with.

076 – This Is Who I Am!

Summary

In this episode, Julie brings up a recent consultation with a young trans person who bristled at the words crossdresser and persona. This young person has always considered herself a woman and didn’t want her existence reduced to that of a crossdresser. Savannah gets the tiniest bit triggered by the comment but she and Julie go into a deep intense dive to better understand the repulsion or attraction of the term of crossdresser as it affects one’s own sense of self. From disliking the idea of trying on a wig to challenging each other about what motivates our perceptions of labels–for ourselves and for others–our co-hosts leave it all on the table for you!

075 – Too Stressed To Dress

Summary

In this episode, Savannah welcomes Julie back from her vacation to Mexico and fo ask her opinion of a problem Savanah had been facing during her time away. Why didn’t she feel like dressing in her feminine expression? Was the novelty of having a female persona wearing off after 50 years?  Was she failing as a dual gender individual because Savannah felt she was not paying proper homage to her feminine spirit? How was she suppose to get her femme mojo back? The questions get explored by our dynamic duo and the answers to Savannah’s problem are universal to anyone who requires a bit of a vacation, some time off, or just a moment to reflect on self care! And, Julie tells Savannah all about the book, “The Giving Tree”. Don’t be a stump!

074 – The “L” in LGBTQ+ Stands for Literature

Summary

In this episode, Savannah comes to Julie with a passionate plea for parents and partners of those in the gender queer community to have patience, perseverance, and practical experience when seeking out literature for yourself and those whom you love. One recent LGBTQ+ best seller children’s picture book sold and promoted on Amazon was actually an example of anti-transgender transphobia propaganda. Savannah and Julie talk about the importance and necessity of finding the literature that best supports education and inclusivity for allies and the people they love and want to support in their positive journeys. From the genesis of more overt queerness in mainstream comics to folx using the right search terms to find the appropriate reading materials, this is a topic important to those who may still feel alone when embodying their authentic spirit.

073 – Brown Chicken, Brown Cow

Summary

In this episode, Savannah circles back back around to the topic of the widely misunderstood notion that labeling yourself as a crossdresser means that you may see yourself–or others may see you–as having a casual interest in dressing as your feminine self. Similar to the “just a crossdresser” episode of the past, this topic is a triggering and touchy topic for Savannah. She and Julie spar about whether the label of crossdresser designates one’s gender identity versus whether it simply describes the mechanism in which one is able to affect one’s gender expression. Julie talks about the fact that people can wear so many labels at the same time, not just that of “crossdresser”. From talks of the new “Annie” on New York’s Broadway to giving two animals the same color and listing them out loud sounds pornographic, Savannah and Julie take you on a passionate ride!
