092 – The Power of the Beach Ball

Summary

In this episode, Julie brings to the table a series of questions that a listener posted. When did you discover yourself? How long did you deny and purge the feminine side of yourself? When and what motivated you to finally make the decision to say “eff it!” and start living a more authentic life? Savannah and Julie tackle all of these questions–as well as other responses to the same post–with personal experiences, anecdotes, and an apt metaphor of a person seeing their feminine spirit as an inflated beach ball which they can decide to puncture, force deeper under the water, or cling to to use as a flotation device.

090 – She Says, They Say, Sage Says

Summary

In this episode, Savannah brings on a special guest for Julie to meet. Sage (SG) is a twenty-something person who recently came to terms with both their sexual identity and their non-binary gender identity and resulting and supportive gender expressions. While the focus of the episode is focused on Sage’s adopting the appropriate “they/them” pronouns to supplement their existing “she/her” pronouns, it is nearly impossible to not want to dig deeper into Sage as a person and their struggles and triumphs as they evolve beyond indoctrinated and socially accepted norms. From the physical dangers of chest binding to the importance of validation and support, Sage takes Julie and Savannah on a quick journey into what makes them who they are.

089 – Reindeer Games

Summary

In this episode, Julie invites Savannah to listen to a letter from a listener who just wants to be “one of the girls”. She just wants to be able to comment on a woman’s clothing choices or accessories and be able to get those same words of affirmation in return. On a more deeper note, she would love to dress more feminine or carry a little pink Coach purse so that she can be complimented and validated for her feminine spirit. In a world of cliques and have/have nots, it is important to have a loving support system filling your feminine wings to lift you to greater soaring heights. All people, in whatever form they take, needs and deserves validation in whatever form they choice to express themselves. Wanting to belong to a group and wanting to feel the loving warmth of true validation is not only wanted, but also well deserved.

088 – Don’t Say Queer

Summary

In this episode, Savannah shares with Julie a somewhat bigoted and hateful meme that one of her neighbors posted on social media. They posted that until Jesus can be talked about in the classroom, gender shouldn’t be. In the wake of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill which, in part, bans school administrators, counselors, and teachers from being able to discuss the gender and sexual diversity, the meme from someone who lives less than a hundred yards from where Savannah lives and records hit too close to home–both metaphorical and literally. What follows is a discussion of what both sides may be looking and hoping for with the passage/overturning of bills such as this one. Why is discussion of boy/girl as gender okay while any alternative to the social norms faces bans, censure, and discrimination? Why does sexual education start and end with biological boy meets biological girl? While Julie and Savannah usually stay away from politics and religion, this series of topics just hit too close to home.

086 – Sexual Healing

Summary

In this episode, Savannah reads a note from a woman named Andrea–a cis-female woman with a male-to-female crossdressing boyfriend. In the message, she relates her realization and understanding that sexual attraction is purely based on that single first impression… based on that single look across a crowded room. Whether a trans-woman or trans-man, a mtf or ftm crossdresser, or a glorious enfemme celebrity, the manner and demeanor of the people we find attractive is not truly based on biology or the genitalia between one’s legs… but based on how they look and carry themselves. We may not be romantically attracted to these same individuals, but it won’t stop our brains and bodies from craving the dish we see.

085 – Don’t Take That Tone With Me!

Summary

In this episode, Savannah and Julie have a little chat about the people they meet in their daily lives and how the tone in which different types of people make their introductions. Seemingly and more stereotypically, cis-women and men in touch with their feminine energy seem to harness that energy with softer and more empathetic prose while more masculine types are direct, to-the-point, and lacing some of the pro-functionary pleasantries most expect while conversing with strangers. From there, Julie digs into Savannah’s second “Living with Crossdressing” book to list out the stereotypically socially-accepted terms we assign to men and women: hard vs. soft, nurturing vs. protective, dominant vs. submissive. How you present yourself to the world is not just confined to a visual medium as it encompasses very channel of social and human interaction… texting included. You can even use the printed and texted mediums as gyms for exercising your feminine creative energy.

084 – Savannah turns her head and coughs

Summary

In this episode, Savannah can’t contain her frantic excitement and bursting pride as she regales Julie with the baby steps she took between episodes. While to many these baby steps seem minor and insignificant, to many a crossdressing individual find them to be almost insurmountable.  Savannah tells Julie the stories of how she decided to checkmark a certain gender box on her medical intake form before her first medical checkup in several years. Not only that, Savannah also did something else for the first time… something less formalized than medical documentation but more visible in the everyday world…she got her eyebrows waxed for the first time!! Listen in to hear all the deets!

083 – Trans Enough

Summary

in this episode, Savannah and Julie both come to the mic with the same topic… that of a gender diverse person as feeling “trans enough”. Referring to a listener’s Facebook post on the same topic and the resulting comments to the post, Savannah and Julie tackle the question, “What determines what is trans enough?”. While the galaxy of gender diversity goes so far and wide of simply being 100% masculine or 100% feminine, many feel it is their responsibility to determine another person’s level of trans-ness. Of course, we all want to find our LGBTQ+ tribe and to be validated for how we feel about ourself as folx using the art of crossdressing to express our gender identity. But, when that external validation may turn to invalidation, it is the responsibility of each of us to discover and embrace however our diversity shows up and realize… we are all TRANS ENOUGH!
